Calm, little Winter closes out ?09

by Peter Jakey, Managing Editor

Winter Rose Hogan was the Outlook?s ?better late than never? New Year?s Baby in 2009, 11 months ago, and will be closing out her reign when the 2010 baby arrives. Winter was born January 28.

The Outlook, in conjunction with area merchants, will be showering the newborn and his or her parents with gifts as part of an annual tradition.

Part of that tradition includes a photo of the nearly one year-old New Year?s Baby from the previous year. Winter is doing exceptionally well. She doesn?t rattle easily, said mother of three, Stephanie Geikowski.

Winter?s father is Mark Hogan Jr., while her brothers are Dillon, five, and Noah, who is almost two.

?She?s doing good, she?s almost walking. She has four teeth now and gets into everything,? said Geikowski with a laugh. ?She?s always happy and rarely ever cries.?

The rules of the New Year?s Baby contest are as follows: The winning baby must be born on or after Jan. 1, 2010 (after midnight, Dec. 31, 2009) to residents of the Onaway Area School District. Entries must be submitted to the Outlook office within 48 hours after the child?s birth.
