Emily Rose Bentley was born at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday, January 13 at Northern Michigan Hospital to parents Jennifer and Cody Bentley of Onaway. Emily weighed 8 pounds and was 18 1/4 inches in length. She has dark blonde hair and dark blue eyes, according to her father.

Emily will be welcomed home by her 18-month old brother Jason Alan. Although she was a born via Cesarean section both mother and daughter seem to be doing great.

Grandparents are Richard and Deborah Bentley and Kurt and Brenda Campbell, all of Onaway. Cody and Jennifer have been married for nearly two years and are happy to have two beautiful children to share their lives with.

?We were kind of hoping she would be the New Year?s Baby. We were hearing that there were a couple of girls who were kind of close to having their babies but we w

eren?t sure. When we got to the hospital we were told five babies had been born between midnight and 5:30 a.m. We asked if any were from Onaway, but they weren?t sure,? said Cody.

Cody then admitted through the birth and excitement of welcoming his second child and daughter to the world he kind of forgot all about the contest, until his mother showed up and asked him if he had called The Onaway Outlook yet, he said ?no? so Grandma Deborah took over and did make that phone call to get her granddaughter entered. Emily was definitely reported within 48 hours of her birth, in fact it was more like two hours.

The Bentley family will be the recipients of many prizes for having the first baby of 2010 born in the Onaway Area School District. Prizes include a gas voucher from Onaway Auto and Finance, a party sub from Subway, a savings account from Onaway Community Federal Credit Union, a one year subscription to The Onaway Outlook, a gift certificate to Sally?s Hairstyling, a gas card from Painter Petroleum, a box of newborn diapers from Tom?s Family Market, a free large pizza from Wood Winds, and gifts from Baumgarten Forest Products, Sunrise Communications, Citizen?s National Bank and Manzana?s Deli.
