The boys are on a roll. Following two of the most thrilling games of the season, the Vikings went to Fairview last Friday and picked up their third straight victory, 63-46. The Vikings (7-5, 6-3) match their season best winning streak and now have surpassed their entire win total of 2008-09 (6-14). David Kerr led the Viking offense with 16 points, but it was the play of the defense that was the biggest factor in the second half as the host Eagles were held to nine points in each of the third and fourth quarters. Fairview switched to a two-three zone, after starting with an initial man-to-man, which was giving the Vikings problems, ?and they kept the game close,? said head coach Steve Hentkowski.

The halftime score was 23-22, Posen. ?I made a couple of changes: one, I put Scott (Couture) at point guard, because they were double and triple teaming Shane (Hentkowski) at the point. We released him and things starting to fall into place,? the coach said. HENTKOWSKI SAID his defense s

tepped up their efforts in the second half and nailed down the win.

?Scott Couture had an excellent game,? said Hentkowski. The senior had a career-high eight assists, nine points and six rebounds. The coach was particularly pleased with the rebounding efforts of his squad, as Luke Bruski and Jacob Delekta both added six boards each. ?If I can keep my team balanced on the boards, we can stay in games,? said Hentkowski. Bruski also had 12, which is a career high. Jerome Ciarkowski put in a dozen as well. The Vikings sweep the season series over Fairview. They won the first meeting in December 68-63.

Cedarville was up next on the schedule (Wednesday, past press time). Up next will be a road contest at Arenac tomorrow (Friday) and then back home for another Wednesday game against Alcona. ? Viking note: sophomore Tyler Kuffel was called up from the junior varsity to provide some depth and some added height down low.
