Outhouse races to kick off sixth annual antique & vintage snowmobile show

The sixth annual Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Show will hit the parking lot at the Water?s Edge Restaurant and Lounge on Third Street this Friday and Saturday. The newest addition to the show is the outhouse races, which are scheduled for Friday evening beginning at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by A-P Chrysler Dodge, outhouse race teams of three will compete for cash prizes. Each team must push or pull an outhouse complete with a toilet seat and a toilet paper holder, with approximate dimensions of 4-by-4-by-6 feet. Two pushers or pullers and one rider will work to be the first to cross the finish line. Each team is encouraged to be as creative as they wish and can choose to have a team theme.

The event actually kicks off Friday at noon with the annual ride at the 208 Camp, complete with a bonfire and a weenie roast. Pre-registration for Saturday?s show will take place during the outhouse races. When the races are complete, Tots Aboard will provide concessions and there will be a cash bar and music by disc jockey Rick Dullac. Registration continues Saturday morning beginning at 8 a.m. until the show kicks off at 9 a.m. Concessions will be provided throughout the day by the Huron Sports Boosters. A swap meet will also take

place throughout the day for those wishing to swap snowmobile equipment, a $10 fee is required to participate in the swap meet.

The banquet dinner is set for Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a menu to include whitefish and chicken. Awards will be handed out following the dinner and the raffle winners will also be announced. Bobbing for Piranhas, a band from Alpena which performed at the Relay for Life this past June will provide entertainment as a cash bar will also be available. The band is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. and organizers stress that no one under 21 years of age may attend after 9 p.m.

The show is open to the public. All are encouraged to attend and enjoy the fun, even though the snow may be melting the show will go on with raffles, races and good fun.
