RCHS, Posen graduations set for the Class of 2010

Rogers City High School?s Class of 2010 will join the list of alumni after graduation ceremonies this weekend at the high school. Commencement for the 63 graduates is set for Sunday at 2:30 p.m. featuring speeches by valedictorian Andrew Derry and salutatorian Amanda Lenard.

Superintendent and high school principal Jamie Huber will present the students for graduation and offer his remarks on the achievements of the class. First up is class night Friday, which begins for the seniors with a 5 p.m. dinner at the Rogers City Senior Center. The public class night and awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m. at the high school. Later the class members return to the senior center for the conclusion of class night.

While the seniors are finished with school on Sunday, the rest of the high school is in class through June 9. Exams are set for June 8 from 8 a.m. though 12:05 p.m. for class periods one through three. An end-of-the year staff luncheon is planned for 12:10 p.m. in the cafeteria. The last day of school on June 9 is reserved for exams for periods four through six from 8 a.m. through 12:05 p.m. Middle school awards and eighth-grade graduation ceremonies will take place in the high school gymnasium at 10 a.m.

With the class motto of ?Behind us are memories, beside us are friends, before us are dreams that will never end,? the 24 members of the Posen graduating class of 2010 will receive their diplomas tomorrow (Friday) night. The seniors include 14 graduating with honors.

Posen Consolidated Schools? superintendent/principal of schools Dru Milliron will present the class, while senior class sponsor Wayne Karsten will award diplomas. Commencement exercises will

start at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Jones giving the invocation. Robert Klein will deliver the salutatory and Luke Bruski the valedictory. That will be followed by a video presentation by Janice Ciarkowski.

MILLIRON WILL offer concluding remarks to the graduates and their guests, before the moment most of them have been waiting a dozen years for: the turning of the tassels and the ensuing celebration. Senior class officers include Bruski, president; Ciarkowski, vice president; Emily Kroll, secretary; Klein, treasurer; Cheryl Romel, Scott Couture, Julia Lewandowski and Justin LaPointe, student representatives.

Members of the high school faculty are Jane Bielas, Glenn Budnick, Kristin Werth, Mike Grulke, Howard Madsen, Mary Misiak, Denise Perrault, Greg Pietsch and Amy Jones. The last day of school was Wednesday following final morning exams.
