The Rogers City Community Development Authority (CDA) is hosting a special showing of the Emmy Award winning documentary ?November Requiem? on Saturday at the Rogers City Theater beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the show is $5, which includes a special ?Taste of Rogers City? reception following the film at the Rogers City Area Senior and Community Center. Numerous Rogers City restaurants and businesses are contributing some of their very best efforts in snacks and hors d?oeuvres for the event.

The CDA is hosting the celebration in recognition of the double Emmy Award won by the film earlier this year for best historical documentary and best original score. ?November Requiem? tells the story of the ill-fated Carl D. Bradley, a limestone freighter lost on Nov. 18, 1958 to a fierce Lake Mi

chigan Storm. Of the 33 men who perished aboard the ship, 23 of them came from a single northern Michigan community, Rogers City. The film tells the story of the maritime tragedy from the perspective of the town?s families and the entire community struck down by tragedy on that night.

The double-Emmy win represents one of the highest honors handed out for broadcast television. The film had previously won television honors including a 2009 Cine Golden Eagle award for best documentary and a 2009 Telly Award for best editing. It also recently won the best documentary award at the Grand Rapids Film Festival.

IN ADDITION to the showing of the movie and the taste of Rogers City event, the Great Lakes Lore Maritime Museum will also be open from 5 ? 10:30 p.m. Saturday giving all those attending the movie the opportunity to stop in and see the Bradley exhibit before or after the film?s showing.
