Arrests in Parrott?s Outpost heist

Parrott?s Outpost is the heart of downtown Onaway, yet thieves threw a concrete block through a front plate glass window near the front door.

The commercial alarm alerted authorities at 1:55 a.m. Sunday, and the subject still got away with 15 handguns before police could arrive.

Through a joint investigation involving the Onaway Police Department (OPD), Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement Team, Huron Undercover Narcotics Team, and Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) agents have resulted in two arrests and the recovery of 13 of the missing handguns.

Law enforcement is still seeking information from the public to assist in the recovery of the two remaining guns. The ATF is of

fering a reward of up to $1,500 for information that can lead to their recovery and the identification and arrest of individuals involved. Evidence at the scene indicates that the suspect had walked around the building and picked up the concrete block near the building.

Deputies from the Presque Isle County Sheriff?s Department followed tracks made in the newly fallen snow to Shaw and South Lynn Street where it is believed that the suspect got into a waiting vehicle and left the area. A witness reported hearing a vehicle with a loud exhaust in the area, but did not see the vehicle or get a description.
