A powerful running game led the Pickford Panthers to a 48-25 comeback win over the Hurons at Gilpin Field in Rogers City Friday. The Hurons took a 19-6 lead in the first quarter on the strength of big plays.

After Pickford registered a touchdown on its first drive, Huron junior Chris Lopez returned the ensuing kick off 83 yards for a touchdown.

Later in the quarter, opportunistic sophomore linebacker Jacob Malocha snatched a loose ball and returned it 43 yards for a defensive touchdown.

Still in the first quarter, senior tailback Evan Lamb’s 53-yard run set up his own 7-yard touchdown run moments later.

Pickford rallied for the next 42 points until the Hurons scored again.
