Mary Kapalla

Mary Elizabeth Kapalla, 56, of Petoskey, formerly of Onaway and Cheboygan, died unexpectedly Monday, November 19, 2012 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey. The daughter of Harry and Genevieve “Jenny” (Jackson) Kapalla, Mary was born in Cheboygan December 2, 1955. On August 9, 1980 she married Richard Nowicki at St. Paul Catholic Church in Onaway.

Surviving are her sons, Aaron Nowicki of Cheboygan and Benjamin Nowicki of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; former husband, Rick Nowicki of Cheboygan; an aunt, Irene Rotarius of Roseville; a cousin and lifelong friend, Jan (Lee) Berry of Escanaba; as well as several other cousins.

Her family has suggested donations to honor the memory of Mary be given to Care Clinic, 1213 N. 3^rd St., Marquette, MI 49855; Imago Dei Crisis Pregnancy Center, 4151 Seminole St., Detroit, MI 48214; or to the American Diabetes Association.
