Sophomore Joe Traynham added another athletic accomplishment to his credit last Friday as he finished 10th (18:12) at cross country regionals in Central Lake to advance to the state finals Saturday at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) in Brooklyn. Traynham has already made a name for himself on the wrestling mat, qualifying for the individual regional tournament a year ago.

He is the lone Cardinal that will participate at the state finals, which begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at MIS. The race will start in the infield of the racetrack before exiting and running around the grounds and parking area for about two miles. They will enter the track again and run the remainder of the race along the grassy edge of the track, finishing right where the racecars do.

JOE TRAYNHAM finished 10th at regionals to qualify for the state finals Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn. Traynham is a hard working athlete according to coach Marty Mix. “He has had an amazing season. He is such a hard worker and he is so enjoyable to coach. It is really nice to see a kid who puts in that much hard work and dedication do so well,” said coach Mix. For more on cross country regionals see page 6. (Photo by Peter Jakey)
