Aaron and Sheri Freel of Onaway are more than overjoyed with the birth of their first child, Nora Eve. Nora was born on Jan. 1 at 2:42 p.m. at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

Sheri was due to have Nora on Dec. 22, but as she wasn’t ready Nora waited to greet the world in 2013 and reign as the Onaway Outlook New Year’s Baby 2013. Nora weighed 9 pounds 2 ounces and was 20 ½ inches in length. Things went very well and the family came home on Jan. 3 to their home on Hutchinson Highway.

They also received gift certificates from Sally’s Hairstyling, two packages of newborn diapers from Tom’s Family Market, a gas voucher from Onaway Auto and Finance Co., a gas card from Painter Petroleum, a gift card from Woodwinds of Onaway and a one-year subscription to the Onaway Outlook.

“Things are going pretty good. We have only had a couple of rough nights. She really doesn’t cry a whole lot, she is a pretty happy baby,” said the new parents. Sheri and Aaron have been married for six years and they met in Mackinaw City 12 years ago. Sheri is originally from Wisconsin.

Grandparents are Nikki and Bryan Freel of Millersburg and Butch and Barb Homan of Wisconsin.

“We have had some visitors, of course the grandparents have been here and my sister and niece were here from Wisconsin to see her. We have also had a few

visitors from the church,” said Sheri.

Aaron is employed by Nash Builders while Sheri works at Burt Lake Marina in Indian River.

The couple is adjusting to parenthood as they get used to having the little one around ,but many smiles can be found as they enjoy their new bundle of love.
