Charles Frederick Freel Jr. “Fred”, 92, a lifelong resident of the Onaway area, died at Hospice House in Cheboygan Sunday, December 30, 2012. The son of Charles F. Sr. and Wilhelmina (Smith) Freel, Fred was born in Millersburg November 14, 1920.

Surviving are Fred’s wife, Waneva Freel of Onaway; daughters, Alice (Lynn) Buzzell of Onaway and Connie (Tim) Sutter of Hawks; grandson, Michael Freel; granddaughter, Amanda (Gary) Bert; great-grandchildren, Niki Bacon and Wyatt, Alex and Matthew Connelly; sister-in-law, Phylis (Don) Higgins of Petoskey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; sisters, Evelyn Porter, Ruth Dempsey and Chris Eldridge; and brothers, Ken, Harold, Basil and Louis Freel.
