Elsie Mae Young
Elsie Mae Young, 87, of Millersburg, died at home Monday, January 7, 2013. The daughter of William Emery and Ashta Marcelle (McClaren) Johnston, Elsie was born March 30, 1925 in Arcadia, Kansas. She married Ernest “Slim” Young May 16, 1947 at the Marenatha Baptist Church in Wyandotte.
Surviving Elsie are her brothers, Bob (Kay), Bill “Buck” (Mitze), Ernie (Pat), and Larry (Nancy) Johnston; a sister, Ane Parrish; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind some very close friends, Norman Turner of Millersburg, John and Jampee Anderson of Huron Beach, Ruth Waybrant of Grand Rapids, Kathryn Albert of Rochester, Minnesota, Dale and Robin Mix of Millersburg, Laurie and Matt Nave and famly of Onaway, Allison and Erin McLean and family of Onaway and Marty and Kara Mix and family of Millersburg. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie “Slim” Young.
Cremation arrangements were in care of the Chagnon Funeral Home. The nurses, staff and volunteers from Hospice that cared for Slim and then Elsie, held a special place in Elsie’s heart.
