Fire at downtown Rogers City structure under control

The scene Monday showed firefighters battling the blaze at the North Third Street building.

 

Firefighters from Rogers City and Posen were on the scene of a structure fire on the 400 block of North Third Street in Rogers City. The building housed several apartments  and was the longtime home of Jack’s Barbershop on the lower level.

he fire was called in just before 11 a.m. Monday morning, Jan. 21 and firefighters found large amounts of smoke coming out. It is not known the origin of the fire at this time. One person from the downstairs apartment was transported to Alpena Regional Hospital with a non-life threatening condition.

Firefighters called the scene “under control” at 5:27 p.m. but estimated they would be at the scene for another three hours. They monitored flareups as late as 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
