Organizational meeting for county commissioners held

by Angie AsamStaff Writer

The Presque Isle County Board of Commissioners met on the first business day of 2013 to hold their organizational meeting. County clerk Ann Marie Main, on her first official day on the job, called the meeting to order and opened the floor for nominations for chairman.

Carl Altman was the only nomination for the chairman position and will again serve the board in that role with Bob Schell again serving as his vice chairman. The board adopted their rules of order with a minor change regarding the publication of meeting minutes to the county Web site.

Moving along in the agenda the board designated its depositories, Huron National Bank, Citizens National Bank of Cheboygan, Chemical Bank, Calcite Credit Union, Awakon Federal Credit Union and J.P. Morgan Chase.

Regular meeting dates for the board will be the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. and the fourth Friday of the month at 9:30 a.m. Disclosure resolutions for all the commissioners, Main, county resource officer Joe Libby and treasurer Bridget LaLonde were approved.

In the case of an emergency or bad weather the chairman of the board or the vice chairman in his absence can make the call to close county offices. The board will not allow any

funding for out of state conventions and the form for bidding on county work remained the same.

All committee appointments will remain the same in 2013 as none of the commissioners changed. Altman made one change in the special appointments as commissioner Mike Darga will serve on the recycling alliance in place of Kris Sorgenfrei. Darga had an interest in becoming more involved as he had served as the alternate representative.

Altman will serve as the chief administrative officer and he and Schell will serve as the finance committee while Darga will be an alternate member of the finance committee.

The first regular meeting of the county board for 2013 will be held Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.
