Wrestling team enjoys fine season

The Rogers City High School wrestling season has come and gone and the Hurons finished 21-12 and were district champions. Head coach Pat Lamb was pleased with the team finishing with a winning record considering they were hit hard by the flu bug this season and only had a handful of practices with everyone in attendance. Lamb said only two of his wrestlers were at every practice and every match this season.

The wrestling program has not had a losing season since 1971, the second season wrestling existed at the school. The program is now 766-203-5 in its 42 years of existence and has a winning percentage of more than 80 percent. This year’s team captured the 30th district title for the program.

Seniors Evan Lamb and Caleb Pommerenke placed at the state finals and both cemented their names in the record books.
