Field of 11 to compete for title of Miss Rogers City

Eleven young ladies from Rogers City are busy getting ready for the Miss Rogers City pageant, which will be held July 26 at the Rogers City High School (RCHS). Cassie Bruning is in her second year of directing the pageant.

Contestant number one is Jillian Flanagan. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Patti Hulbert and Michael Flanagan. She will be a senior at RCHS in the fall and after graduation plans to attend Northern Michigan University to study nursing with a goal of working in the emergency room and trauma area of a hospital.

For her talent presentation Flanagan will be dancing. She is a member of the Key Club, Girl Scouts, National Honor Society (NHS) and Natural Helpers. She enjoys reading and drawing. Her favorite school subject is chemistry and her favorite teacher is Mr. Nowak.

Cynthia Kerr is contestant number two. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Frank and Pauline Andrews. After graduating from RCHS next year she plans to attend the University of Michigan to become a doctor in the field of radiology.

She will be performing a solo on the alto saxophone for her talent presentation. She is a member of the Key Club, Teenage Republicans, Disciple 13, Natural Helpers, Finance Club, NHS and St. Ignatius Catholic Church youth ministry. She enjoys photography, reading, hunting, fishing, biking and other outdoor activities. Her favorite subject is English and she cannot pick just one favorite teacher.

Contestant number three is Autumn Blanchard. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Randy and Bethany Blanchard and granddaughter of Mark and Deb Siebel. Upon her graduation from RCHS next spring she plans to join the Marine Corps with a goal of becoming a basic training drill sergeant.

For her talent presentation Blanchard will be playing the piano. She is a member of the Key Club, recycling club, ski club and the manners club. She enjoys baking, fishing, hunting and wrestling. Her favorite school subject is math and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Krentz.

Nikki Radke is contestant number four. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Paul and Amy Radke. Her plans following graduation from RCHS remain undecided but she has a goal of becoming an optometrist.

She will be dancing for her talent presentation. She is a member of the Key Club, Natural Helpers and the NHS. She enjoys high school softball and cheerleading, playing travel softball, camping and traveling. Her favorite school subject is chemistry and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Bisson.

Contestant number five is Megan Quaine. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Matt and Jackie Quaine. After her graduation from RCHS she plans to attend Alpena Community College (ACC) before transferring to a larger university to study criminal justice.

For her talent presentation Quaine will be writing and reciting a poem. She is a member of the NHS, Natural Helpers, Key Club and St. John Lutheran Church youth group. She enjoys playing volleyball, basketball and running track, swimming, in-line skating, skiing, snowmobiling and hanging out with her friends and family. Her favorite subject is science and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Munger.

Tiffani Lepkowski is contestant number six. She is the 18-year-old daughter of Sarah and Lyle West. Upon graduating from RCHS she plans to attend ACC.

For her talent presentation she will be singing. She is a member of the student leadership group and the Key Club. She enjoys sketching, sculpting, writing, bike riding and video games. Her favorite school subject is English and her favorite teacher is Mr. Kosiara.

Contestant number seven is Nicole Bannasch. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Scott Bannasch and Sue Bannasch. She plans to attend Central Michigan University after graduating from RCHS where she wants to get a teaching degree in elementary mathematics and special education.

She will be tap dancing for her talent presentation. She is a member of the Dance Centre Competitive Team, NHS, Key Club and Natural Helpers. She enjoys dance, bowling and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite school subject is math and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Bruder.

Ali Haselhuhn is contestant number eight. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Kimberly and Malcolm Kennedy and Mark Haselhuhn. After graduating from RCHS she plans to attend a four-year community college to study social work or child care.

For her talent presentation she will be singing. She is a member of the Key Club, Natural Helpers and NHS. She enjoys swimming, walking and hanging out with her friends. Her  favorite teacher is Mrs. Bisson.

Contestant number nine is Sara Quaine. She is the 17-year-old daughter of Paul and Tammy Quaine. After graduating from RCHS she plans to attend ACC to study in the medical field.

She will be performing a Disney skit for her talent presentation. She is a member of the Key Club, student leadership group and has attended the Great Lakes National Resource Camp twice. She enjoys reading and playing board games with her family and friends. Her favorite school subject is math and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Kieliszewski.

Jessica Butera is contestant number 10. She is the 16-year-old daughter of Laura Butera. She plans to attend ACC and Lake Superior State University after graduating from RCHS. Butera would like to obtain her master’s degree in forensic psychology.

For her talent presentation Butera will be playing the piano. She is a member of the Key Club, NHS, Natural Helpers, student council, student leadership group, finance club, Educational Talent Search (ETS) and Teenage Republicans. She enjoys cross country, cheerleading, bowling, softball, in-line skating, reading, volunteer work and scrapbooking. Her favorite school subject is math and her favorite teacher is Mr. Kosiara.

Contestant number 11 is Rebecca Myers. She is the 16-year-old daughter of Michael and Cynthia Myers. Upon graduating from RCHS she plans to attend Purdue University to receive a pre-medical degree and continue her education to become a pediatrician specializing in nutrition.

For her talent presentation she will be performing a jazz dance. She is a member of the Key Club, Finance

Club, D-13, NHS and ETS. She enjoys running, reading, volunteering, traveling, four-wheeling, riding bicycles, babysitting, bowling, shopping and listening to music. Her favorite subject is science and her favorite teacher is Mr. Nowak.

 

THESE TALENTED 11 ladies will compete for the title of Miss Rogers City 2013 and reign over the 2013 Nautical City Festival.

Tickets are available from any contestant and will be available at the door the night of the pageant. The pageant hits the stage at 7 p.m. July 26.
