Robert William Lonsdale

Robert William Lonsdale, 80, of Black Lake (Onaway) died on Monday August 5, 2013 at Alpena Regional Medical Center with his family at his bedside. The son of Harry S. and Dorothy (Look) Lonsdale, Bob was born in Detroit on February 24, 1933. He married Shirley Peacock on September 18, 1954 in Angola, Indiana.

Surviving Bob are three daughters, Sandy (Chuck) Vogelheim of Rogers City, Sally (Jim) Grainger of Onaway and Mary (Erin) Egan of Black Lake; sons, Bob (Carolee) of Juneau, Alaska and Todd Lonsdale of Black Lake; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, William Morgan of Onaway; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Chagnon Funeral Home Friday, August 9, from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.  A memorial service will follow Saturday, August 10, at 11 a.m. at the Onaway United Methodist Church. The Rev. Josh Blanchard will officiate.  Bob’s final resting place will be at North Allis Township Cemetery. The family has suggested in lieu of flowers donations to honor the memory of Robert Lonsdale be made to the Onaway Historical Society Lobdell Office Restoration or to the Onaway Ambulance Equipment Fund.
