Harriet D. Kowalski, 93, died Sunday (September 22, 2013) at Birch Lane Adult Foster Home in Belknap Township.

She was born July 27, 1920 to Alfred and Della (Zbytowski) Haske in Metz. Harriet and her mother moved to Detroit in 1944. She was a housekeeper at the Parke-Davis Company.

Harriet is survived by a daughter, Judy of Rogers City; two granddaughters, Andrea (Ryan) Shaughnessy of Lake Ann and Lesley Sobeck of Maine; caregivers, Sue and Rich Romel of Posen; a brother, David of Posen; many nieces and nephews; and her extended family at Birch Lane Adult Care Home.

Visitation will be 9 a.m., Saturday, October 26, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church until the 10 a.m. memorial service the Rev. Sylvestre Obwaka officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brietzke Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Hospice of the Sunrise Shore or friends’ choice.
