Precinct one reports Sobeck leading

With one of two precincts reporting in Rogers City, councilman Tom Sobeck is leading in the mayors’ race with 334 votes. Councilmember Deb Greene is second with 91 votes while Jerry Wagner has 87 and councilman Dana John LaBar has 65.

In the council race, three candidates are contending for two seats leading after one precinct is A.J. Przybyla, Ken Bielas with 391 and Bill Stypek with 149.

In Onaway, the voters retained mayor Gary Wregglesworth by a 144-107 count over former police chief James Gibson. Charles Abshagen, longtime city commissioner, won both the recall and regular two-year term. Roger Marsh will replace Jessie Horrocks until Jan. 1, 2014, while Horrocks won the two-year term and returns to the city commission.

Vote counts in the recall were Abshagen 134, Marsh, 115, Horrocks 114 and Grainger 112.

Vote counts for the two-year term were Abshagen 131, Horrocks 105, Marsh, 96, Grainger 91, Porter 39 and Norman 26.

As of 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, no count was available on county-wide issue.
