Posen moves on with a solid second half defense

It was the first time this season the Posen girls’ basketball team (21-0) trailed an opponent in the second half of a game.

Hillman was up by five early in the third quarter, but could not handle the Vikings’ second half pressure and could only muster one field goal in the third quarter.

Ashley Meyers three-pointer in the closing seconds of the third gave Posen a double-digit (47-36) lead and the confidence to quell the upset minded Tigers in the final eight minutes.

Jenna Hincka had 20 points and thoroughly shined on defense.

All state center Korynn Hincka injured her elbow in the first quarter and missed four minutes of the game. The injury did not seem to hamper her as she finished with 11-second half points. Korynn and Jenna were a combined 14 for 19 from the free throw line.

Up next is a trip back to Wolverine Wednesday for a semifinal game against Rogers City. (More details in this week’s Advance)
