Posen has two valedictorians for Class of 2014

Posen Consolidated Schools’ superintendent/principal John Palmer announced the Class of 2014’s honor students, which includes two valedictorians and a salutatorian.

Graduating with identical grade point averages (GPAs) of 3.95 will be Korynn Hincka and Kendall Hirschman as co-valedictorian.

The salutatorian is Ashley Meyers with a GPA of 3.83.

The trio will present graduation speeches during the annual commencement ceremony June 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Korynn Hincka is the daughter of Eric and Tammy Hincka. She is involved with SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and is a National Honor Society (NHS) member. She is involved in the pep club, yearbook and trip club, and participated in cross country, volleyball and basketball. She is currently on the track team.

During an accomplished basketball career, she established new scoring and rebound records and was named first-team all-state three straight years. She will join the Grand Valley State University women’s basketball program in the fall and pursue a degree in chiropractic/massage therapy.

Hincka also was 2012 Miss Presque Isle County fair queen and 2013 Miss Posen first runner-up. She is part of the St. Casimir Catholic Church youth group.

Kendall Hirschman is the daughter of James and Ann Hirschman. She is a member of NHS, SADD and yearbook staff, as well as trip and pep clubs. She was involved in basketball and volleyball

Hirschman reigned as 2013 Miss Posen. She earned talent/coordination/fitness, as well as the poise and appea

rance awards. She also was a representative of Sarah Sanders Photography.

She plans on attending Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) to study social work.

Ashley Meyers, 3.83 is a member of NHS and SADD and part of the pep and trip clubs. She is part of the Trio Talent Search and played volleyball and basketball, and is getting for her final season of softball.  She is the daughter of Thomas and Denise Meyers.

Meyers earned all-state and all-region in softball and was first-team all-conference in basketball. She also attained academic all-state in basketball and softball.

Meyers plans to attend Northwood College or Alpena Community College (ACC), and pursue a degree in business management and physical therapy.
