As reported in last week’s Outlook, the Ehrke sisters, Mariah and Taylor, will be traveling to Australia as members of the United States Eastern Conference Volleyball team this summer.

It is a great opportunity for them that they are excited about, but they have to fund the trip. They held a bottle drive last weekend and will be holding a 3-on-3 basketball fundraiser on Saturday, April 19 beginning at 10 a.m.

Players need to be at least 13 years of age and it is a co-ed tournament. Each team must have three players with at least one female on each team. The entry fee is $10 per player and teams need to be registered no later than April 14 with Taylor. The games will be played with a first to 15 points, win by two rule. To get registered call or send a text message to (989) 306-3486.

They have other fundraisers in the works as well. The girls will travel to Australia July 14 and be gone 12 days. They will spend the final three days of the trip in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Hosted by Down Under Sports, a part of International Sports Specialists, Inc. (ISSI) this will be the 16th annual volleyball tournament put on by the organization. ISSI was founded in February 1989 based upon the dream of a New Zealander by the name of George O’Scanlon. George fell in love with athletics, especially American football (gridiron) as a young man growing up in his native country of New Zealand. His desire over the years has been to promote gridiron, not only to the people of New Zealand, but also to Australia where he lived for many years. For over twenty years, ISSI has had the opportunity to share the land Down Under with tens of thousands of individuals from across the United States.
