No-hitters mark start of home openers

Casey Szatkowski and Alexa Quaine each threw no-hit ball for the Hurons at the Fairview Eagle baseball and softball teams Monday.

In the first action at home of the young spring season, Szatkowski struck out 11 in the Hurons’ 3-0 win in game one of a scheduled doubleheader. Quaine pitched a three-inning no-hitter in a mercy-rule win in game two of a sweep of the Eagles.

Both teams host tournaments this Saturday at Gilpin with play beginning at 10 a.m.
