Gertrude E. Freel

Gertrude E. Freel, 91, a lifelong resident of Millersburg, died April 23, 2014 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Dennis and Elizabeth (Walker) Dempsey, Gertrude was born September 17, 1922 in Millersburg. She married John F. Freel at the Methodist parsonage in Onaway, July 20, 1946.

Surviving Gertrude are her two sons, Harley Freel of Millersburg and Rex Freel of Korea; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sister and best friend, Grace Freel of Millersburg; as well as many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. w, Chuck Wregglesworth; daughter-in-law, Linda Freel; sister, Eva; and brothers, Earl, Lyle, Irvin, Leo, Lawrence and Morris.

Visitation was at the Chagnon Funeral Home April 25, and resumed April 26, at Ocqueoc Baptist Church in Millersburg until the time of the funeral service. The Rev. Kenneth Marsh officiated.
