It will be Posen and Rogers City in Saturday’s district semifinal at Johannesburg-Lewiston High School after the North Star League (NSL) champions dispatched Onaway, 19-2, in three innings.

Starter Ashley Meyers picked up the win in Tuesday’s predistrict game and Jenna Hincka knocked in five in the playoff opener. The Vikings now get the rematch with Rogers City in the early game Saturday.

Posen took both regular-season matchups at Gilpin Memorial Field earlier this month. They were Rogers City’s only

conference losses.

“You will have four teams showing up Saturday hoping to win a district tournament, but you can’t do that until you play that first game,” said Posen coach Glenn Budnick. “Our focus will be solely on Rogers City. We will give it our best shot and see what happens. They are a great powerhouse team. They were a state semifinalist last year, and I am sure they are looking to make another trip downstate, and back into the state semifinals, but that’s our goal too. So, we’ll lay it all out on the line and see what happens.” On the other side of the bracket is Hillman and Atlanta.

The winner of the Joburg district moves to play in the regional tournament a week from Saturday in Rogers City.
