Ruth M. Doyle

Ruth M. Doyle, 90, of Alpena, formerly of Presque Isle, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Ruth was born January 25, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to Henry and Edith (Musbach) Barrow.  She married Norris Doyle February 27, 1945 in Denver, Colorado.  He preceded her in death April 21, 2012.  Ruth was a past member of the Grand Lake Women’s Club and also served as Presque Isle Township treasurer from 1966 to 1972, Presque Isle County commissioner from 1973 to 1976 being the only woman elected to that position at that time.  In 1977 she was elected as Presque Isle County clerk, retiring from that position in 1983.  She was very dedicated to helping the citizens of Presque Isle County.  While spending time at home she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and fishing.

Surviving is her daughter, Bonnie (Tim) Mahar of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan (Bob) Bunting; and two brothers, Paul Barrow and Henry Barrow who were residents of Grand Lake.
