Hurons move to 2-0 after win over Rudyard

The Rogers City Hurons’ varsity football team stifled a Rudyard team 19-0 in their home opener Friday at Gilpin Memorial Field.

The first half was a defensive struggle with neither team putting points on the board. Rogers City then had 19 unanswered in the second half to earn the win.

The Hurons came out in new uniforms for the home opener to the 2014 football season.

“They were no pushovers by any means. We kind of thought we were in a little better shape then they were and the second half is when you could see that. We turned it up a little bit and scored three on them. We are real pleased,” said coach Tim Nagy.

“Next week is Alcona, it is going to be tough. The schedule is getting tougher but we are building momentum. These kids are getting better and better every week. The attitude is real good, we are in good shape health wise and we will keep getting better,” said coach Nagy.
