UPDATED: Three wrestling for places on podium

Presque Isle County is well represented at the Michigan High School Athletic Association individual state wrestling finals at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Action began Thursday with the grand march and opening round. Starting weight was 119 and will be for each round.

The county got their first win at 140 pounds when Rogers City senior Cameron Urban stepped on the mat and pinned New Lothrop’s Gabe Bennett in 2:55. He will now face Trenton Rosely of Hesperia in the championship quarterfinals Friday at 10:30 a.m.

Rogers City senior Jacob Sobeck (145) was the next to win as he won by pin in 53 seconds over Donovan Underwood of Addison. Sobeck will now move on to face Trevor Copes of New Lothrop in the championship quarterfinals.
Onaway senior Joe Traynham (112) defeated Trey Schafer of Reading 14-1 and will face sophomore Connor Krupp of New Lothrop in the championship quarterfinals.
Onaway junior Zeke Nave (125) fell to Dallas O’Green of Carson City Crystal 9-1 and will now face Tyler Teague of Springport in the consolation second round Friday at 8:30 a.m.
Rogers City junior Justin Saile fell to Ethan Sharp of Schoolcraft in 5:41 at 135 pounds and will now face Clint Kupiec of Fulton in the consolation second round.
Senior Austin Bober (152) of Rogers City fell to Hunter Bell of Decatur by pin in 3:07 and will face Jerimah Osterhout of Burton Bentley.
On Friday morning Nave defeated Tyler Teague of Springport 10-4 and Saile lost by pin to Clint Kupiec of Fulton in 1:37. Saile is now out of the tournament.

UPDATED 9:35 a.m. Friday—Austin Bober wrestled Jeremiah Osterhout of Burton Bendle and lost 6-1. Ends a great wrestling career for the senior.
11:45 a.m.—Cameron Urban lost 6-2 to number-one ranked Trenton Roesly of Hesperia in the championship quarterfinals.
Noon—Jake Sobeck lost to Trevor Copes of New Lothrop, 4-2 in the championship quarterfinals.
1:25 p.m.—Defending champion Joe Traynhman defeated Connor Krupp of New Lothrop, 9-5 to advance to semifinals this evening.
2:00 p.m.—Zeke Nave lost 3-1 to Jimmy Spencer of Rudyard to end his season.
2:40 p.m.—Cameron Urban defeated Jason Brown of St. Ignace by pin in 39 seconds.
2:45 p.m.—Jake Sobeck pinned Hunter Trubiano of Clinton in 3:35. It was win number 200 for the senior from RCHS. Wins by Urban and Sobeck guarantee a medal.
9:30 p.m.—Joe Traynham lost to Robert Lefevere of Erie Mason by a score of 5-3.
SATURDAY RESULTS
9:30 a.m.—Jake Sobeck (145) beat Maririco Diaz-Reyes from  Pigeon Laker 11-3. He will wrestle Corey Johnson from Manchester in the consolation round semifinals. If Jake wins, he wrestles for third place and if he loses he wrestles for fifth place. Cameron Urban (140) lost to Alex Young of Carson City Crystal 13-0 and will take on Cole Gonzales from Norway for seventh place in medal round.
10:25 a.m.—Jake won 7-0 over Corey Johnson from Manchester. He now wrestles for third place later today.
11:00 a.m.—Joe Traynham wrestled Jeremiah Durian of Bloomingdale and won 7-5. He will wrestle for third.
MEDAL ROUND
11:55 a.m.—Cameron Urban wrestled cole Gonzales of Norway and lost 7-1 to place eighth.
12:10 p.m.—Jacob Sobeck defeated Trevor Copes of New Lothrop 6-1 to finish third in Division 4.
2:15 p.m.—Joe Traynham wrestled Brendan Abrigo of Manchester and lost 9-4 to finish fourth to cap a great wrestling career at Onaway High School.
