All three county schools are in Posen district tournaments

All the county schools will be in the same district tournament, which begins Saturday at 10 a.m. in Posen. At the baseball field at the south end of the village, Posen and Onaway square off at 10 a.m. while Rogers City plays Wolverine in the noon game. The winners move on to play at 2 p.m. in the district championship game.

The district winner plays at 10 a.m. June 6 at the Pellston regionals against the winner of the Norway district. Schools in that western Upper Peninsula district include Bark River Harris, Stephenson, Norway, Ironwood and Powers North Central.

Defending state champion Rogers City is in action in Posen's district tournament which includes Onaway, Posen and Wolverine.

Winner of the district advances to Pellston for a 10 a.m. regional contest with the winner of the Norway district. Schools in that district include Ishpeming, Ironwood, Lake Linden-Hubbell, Stephenson, Painesdale-Jeffers, Baraga and Bark River Harris.

The quarterfinal softball game will also be at Traverse City West June 9 beginning at 3 p.m. Other quarterfinals in baseball and softball will be played at Bailey Park in Battle Creek, Calvin College and Flint Kearsley.
