Defending champs dethroned in regional finals

The defending Division 4 state champions have been dethroned and the Huron baseball team is out of the state title chase. Each lost by a 4-1 score in the regional finals at Pellston Saturday.

Rogers City High School’s champion Huron softball team was chased off their throne by a pack of Bulldogs from Indian River-Inland Lakes in the regional championship game. Huron hitters could not solve the rockets coming off the hand of Bulldog pitcher Cloe Mallory, who struck out 12 while walking one and allowing just two hits.

Rogers City defeated Norway 10-0 in the regional semifinals earlier in the day.Logan Fleming blasted a home run in the win.

The Huron boys defeated Norway 4-3 in the opener but lost 4-1 in the semifinals of regional action.
