Onaway all-stater to play in volleyball all-star game

Onaway volleyball all-stater Lexi Szymoniak and coach Steve Watson will participate in the Michigan Volleyball Coaches Association (MIVCA) all-star game Friday in Battle Creek.

Szymoniak led her team to the final four this season, the second time in three years the Lady Cards have made the final four.

Watson will help coach one of the teams, which are made up of players from all sizes of schools. The four teams consist of players from the Class of 2015 from all over the state.

“The coaches just have to figure out who sits out and when. These girls are really good. It is a chance to play with some really good players,” Watson said.

To qualify to coach in the event, a coach must take their team to at least the quarterfinal level.

All teams will play two matches at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
