Nautical tent going back up

After the storm whipped through Rogers City Sunday taking the Nautical Festival big tent at Lakeside Park down with it, the festival committee has been busy working to get a new tent up in its place.

Mike Myers, festival committee member, was at the site of the tent all day Monday and took a trip to Onaway to take the damaged aluminum poles to Moran Iron Works to be repaired and another trip to pick them up this afternoon.

With the poles repaired, crews from ABO Tent Events out of Saginaw arrived around 2:30 p.m. Monday with a tent they took down in Tawas that morning. They assessed the panels that they had put up in Rogers City Monday and began planning what to do to get a tent big enough put back up.

Myers said Monday that festival events will continue as scheduled with the kick off meet-and-greet Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the tent followed by the Rogers City Area Chamber of Commerce business after hours and the Texas Hold’em and bunco tournaments at 7 p.m.
